Tractors with power take-off (PTO) driveshafts pull all types of PTO shaft-driven implements. When the implement'south PTO shaft engages the PTO driveshaft of the tractor, the shaft turns one,000 times per minute. The PTO shaft provides the implement with mechanical operating power. The male person driveshaft on the tractor has splines that mate with the female driveshaft on the implement. A locking pin or button locks the 2 together. Y'all demand to remove a PTO shaft to disconnect an implement from the tractor.

Place the vehicle's manual gear in park. Engage the parking brake and plough the ignition fundamental off. Ensure the motor isn't running before climbing out of the vehicle by listening and looking at your oil pressure level judge.

Face the backside of the tractor, between the dorsum wheels. Expect where the PTO shaft of the implement connects to the PTO spindle on the tractor. You'll run into a safety shroud covering this surface area.

Unhook any safety bondage holding the shrouds on the shaft to the tractor. The PTO shaft is now removed.

Tip

Grease the splines on the tractor's driveshaft spindle to make installation and removal of the PTO shaft easier.

Warning

Never remove a PTO shaft from a running tractor. If attempted, severe injury or death may occur.
